Jody's Notes
There is an interesting tradition in poetry--although nowadays it mostly shows up in contemporary love songs and Hallmark cards (and not serious poetry). This is a depiction of the landscape around us--and the animals in that landscape--as concerned with us. As concerned with our emotional states really. So, in this tradition, when it rains, the sky is crying because we're sad. When birds chirp, they are singing because we are in love. And so on.
It's an interesting tradition.
The neighboring stars, the
plagiarizing echo, all of this
is too friendly for words.
I place the seashell judiciously,
listen to the murmuring hopes,
broadcast the good news.
